Betawi is a multi-award-winning Indonesian restaurant founded in 2007, initially in Dubai and later expanded to Brisbane, Australia in 2022. Its name originates from the old capital city of Indonesia, Batavia (now Jakarta). The cuisine is known for its originality, spice, and exciting ingredients. Dishes are prepared daily by Indonesian chefs using authentic imported herbs, spices, and sauces, without added MSG. The founder, Isti, an Indonesian native, started Betawi inspired by her nostalgia for traditional Indonesian dishes. The restaurant emphasizes fresh ingredients and has earned accolades for its budget-friendly yet quality Southeast Asian cuisine.
