Talking about fashion for men then a discussion of suits will always come. There is rarely any man here who doesn't like to wear a suit. It enhances the personality of a man. But how many of you know the right way to carry a suit and what other things go with it? There are a lot of things to read and adopt wearing a suit. And today, I am discussing one such important topic that will add a great shine to your personality and that is the pocket square. How to fold a pocket square or what are the different ways to fold a pocket square are some of the common questions asked by many people. 

So, before we explore to learn the different ways to fold a pocket square, have a look at some of the basics about it

If you are wearing a suit then wearing the accessories with it is equally important. If you are a beginner then you might be wondering or not aware of the accessories that you must carry with a suit to look elegant and handsome. Here are a few of them - 

  1. Neckties:

Without a necktie, a men's suit is incomplete. Your selection of neckties should be wise. Meaning that it does not distract your overall look, but enhance the personality. Some designs in necktie are in trend like necktie on silk fabric with stripes or microgrid is the best choice for businessmen. But if you wear these patterns of tie outside your office it doesn't look good. So, neckties are the must-have accessories that go perfectly with suits, what matters is your selection. 


  1. Tie clips/Tie Bars: 

Tie clips are a metal accessory of the suit. But unfortunately, it is of dual nature use, Firstly it shows functional characteristics and secondly, it shows the fashionable one.

Functionally it serves the purpose of keeping your tie intact and wrinkle-free. So basically it is enough reason to use them, but what's bad if it can serve another purpose too, by making you look more classy. Opting a bit expensive gold or silver metal tie bar will surely make your suit look more stylish.

  1. Cufflinks:

Cufflinks are a part of modern suiting. It will provide you a unique and different look from others. It will let people assume that you are a sophisticated person who pays close attention to the small details in life. Your choice of cufflinks will surely affect your personal as well as professional look, so please be confident before choosing it.

  1. Watches:

If you are wearing a suit then you must know the etiquette to arrange it properly, where to keep it, which colour you choose or which strap you select. First, you make sure not to use any sports watch with a suit, the watch must be casual or formal. Secondly, straps may be of leather or metal, my vote always goes for the leather one. Thirdly you should choose a contrast colour of the suit, if you are wearing a light colour suit then use the black or brown watch and vice versa.

Now the most important part is how to wear it. The watch must be behind the shirt cuffs, it just shows only when you bend your arm.

  1. Brooches and Pins:

Initially, Brooches and Pins are the functional part of dressing thus it is used as an add-on of two different clothes or torn part of the cloth. But now they are being used to serve some other purpose also so as to make your attire look more elegant. The designer brooch of metal and precious gems are essential to complete your look. One should be more specific in choosing them, always opt contrast one as per your dress using dark brooch on light outfits are more attractive. Also think about your fabric once.

  1. Pocket Squares:

Pocket Squares are becoming an essential part of dressing nowadays. It will bring a lot more attention to the fashion people around you. The use of Pocket Square in your dressing will make your suit look more festive. But the choice of your fabric or material for pocket square must be a concern. If you are done with the selection of your suit then you should look for a decent or matching colour of Pocket Square. The colour of it may match with your shirt colour or it may be paired with your other attire of outfits, they both will give your personality a different taste. But that's not it if you are done with the selection of the pocket square then you must prepare yourself for another task of Folding Pocket Square.

How to fold a pocket square?

There are different ways for folding a pocket square, I am sharing two trendy pocket squares styles for you. Just follow the step with me and you are ready to fold a pocket square for your own. 

Fold 1 - Presidential Fold Pocket Square 

Most people call it a classic or elegant pocket square fold. It is the easiest one among all. If you are wearing attire for business purposes or having an black-tie then the presidential fold is used a lot. 

Step 1 - Put the pocket square on a plane surface. 

Step 2 - The square is fully unfolded. 

Step 3 - Start folding the pocket square in half or to the width of your jacket. 

Step 4 - Fold one side up from the bottom and give a rectangle finished look

Step 5 - Now the final step, tuck it into the pocket of your jacket in such a way that a single smooth strip about ¼ inch is visible at the top of the pocket. 

Fold 2 - One Tip Up Pocket Square Fold 

The most common way to fold a pocket square is one tip up pocket square. If you are using the patterned or solid pocket square then one tip pocket square is best for you.

Step 1 - Again start with the plain, unfolded pocket square. Put it on a clean surface. 

Step 2 - Start creating a triangle by folding one it from the one corner or you can fold it diagonally, 

Step 3 - Now fold it from the base to again create a triangle inward on one side. 

Step 4 - Fold the other corner in the same way. Your pocket square should look like an envelope. Like three sides create the rectangle like structure and one side looks like a triangular point sticking upward. 

Step 5 - Now tuck it in your pocket from the bottom side. Your pocket should hide the rectangular part and only the triangular part is visible. 

This is how you can fold a pocket square.
