What Do You Need to Know Before Your Apartment Move?

If you decided to relocate your family and you are living in an apartment, there is a few important things to know. Indeed, moving into a apartment can be quite specific due to the rules of the building, access and preparation. Over the years, we have seen many customers moving into flats and today we wanted to share with you what would be the very important tips to follow for a hassle-free flat relocation.

  • Volume or amount of furniture

Most of the time, if you are moving from a house to an apartment, you might actually be downsizing without even knowing it. In a house you have more square meters, more built-in furniture, more shelving etc. and most of the time a big garage. So, you have to make sure that your amount of furniture and items will fit into your new flat.

  • Check the size of items

Better do a floor plan and measure the size of the furniture. Some might be too big and wouldn’t fit in some specific spot. It would really be a shame to put that furniture up in the lift and have to put them down after. Prepare your layout and check it out.

  • Good packing is important

If you hire a small removalists perth, you want them to be efficient and not waste any time. So, it's very important to have a neat packing. Absolutely everything has to be in boxes, no small random items. As a result, the movers can use their trolleys and Dolly’s and load the truck properly.

  • Select a professional moving company

Not all the moving companies can move apartment. Make sure that the movers that you choose have experience in this field, all the tools and if needed the necessary crew. In sone cases, you might need a small truck in order to fit in your parking. Some moves will require balcony lifts or removal through staircase. Please ask your moving company for any advices...

  • Specific organization tips to know

You might have to ask your building manager or caretaker for a lift key and some lift pad protection (To protect inside the elevator)

Make sure that you ask the manager where to park the truck and any compulsory rules of the building. Regarding the parking, you might have to ask permit authorization with the council.
