Hundreds of gallons of water is wasted every year, because somewhere someone is ignoring the leaky faucet. Faucets are the most commonly used appliance in our households and they become an integral part of our day-to-day working as well, but we realize this when a problem occurs with them.

  • Leaky faucet:

Problem

A leaky faucet is a very common issue that most of us have already encountered. Such faucet problems create a lot of mess and most importantly they watse a lot of water.

Solution 

There are various reasons this might be happening, firstly tighten the packing nut at the handle which is mostly the primary cause. Sometimes the O-ring damages it and needs replacement. Also lubricating the O-ring with silicone-based grease can do wonders to your faucet

  • Low Pressure of Water:

Problem

Low water pressure usually occurs in old faucets due to accumulation of particles over the tiny holes, resulting in low pressure coming out of the faucet.

Solution 

The low pressure usually causes a sprayer diverter. It is a small piece located inside the faucet body which controls the water going into the faucet. In order to keep the faucet in a perfect condition you must regularly check that it is clean. You should also check if the water supply valves are on properly. 

  • No water coming out:

Problem 

This is one of the more serious issues that one can encounter as it can lead to a halt in our daily routine. 

Solution

For a regular type of faucet you will need to replace the valve seat but if you have a compression style faucet, you will need to replace the seat washer as well as the valve seat.

  • Rust and stain:

Problem 

If the faucet is not rustproof then it may develop rust and stain over time. Rust and stains not only hampers the look of your bathrooms and kitchen but they also affect the water quality coming out of the faucet. 

Solution 

In such a situation you will have to change the faucet and you should regularly clean your faucets while bathroom cleaning.

  • Noisy faucet:

Problem 

After some wear and tear, some of the faucets start making noises such as whistling or chattering noises.

Solution 

Plumbing problem can be solved by installing an air chamber, but if the problem still continues then try these steps: turn off the water supply and drain the water line and then turn the water back.If the noise still occurs, then the valve requires a new washer.
